  • Part-Time Education Coordinator

Incorporated in 1971, eta Creative Arts Foundation is a 47-year-old African American cultural arts institution located on Chicago’s South Side that trains youth and adults in performing and technical arts.  We are an arts resource in the African American community providing top quality productions, performances and exhibitions in theater, dance, music and visual arts that preserve and promote a Black aesthetic. The Education Coordinator is a part-time staff position involving responsibility for the administration of eta’s Youth Programs.

Job Responsibilities

Program and curriculum development in conjunction with Senior Staff

Saturday Education Program:  Primary responsibility for the oversight and administration of the Saturday education programming, which occurs in four hour periods, including

  • > Program design/development
  • > Curriculum review
  • > Solicitation and hire of instructors
  • > Reporting, including attendance
  • > Coordination of field trips
  • > Development of specific teen arts programming (during week nights)

 

Summer Education Camp:  Primary responsibility for the oversight and administration of the summer education programming, occurring 20 hours a week for 7 weeks, including

  • > Program design/development
  • > Budgeting with Senior Staff
  • > Curriculum review
  • > Solicitation and hire of instructors
  • > Reporting, including attendance
  • > Coordination of field trips

 

Development of Youth Engagement

  • Development of youth theater
  1. 1. Recruitment of teens for participation
  2. 2. Build audience for youth ensemble
  • Coordination of CPS Arts programming
  1. 1. School based productions
  2. 2. Showfolk (eta based productions)

 

Development Support

  • > Source and management of engagement opportunities for youth arts programming
  • > Source funding opportunities for youth arts programming

 

Job Requirements

  • > Bachelor of Arts or Science, preferably in Fine Arts
  • > Management Experience
  • > Experience with youth and teens required
  • > Ability to creatively inspire arts engagement in youth (creation of arts environment)
  • > Recordkeeping and reporting experience
  • > Proficiency in customary/standard office software applications
  • > Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • > Ability to develop program narratives for grant/funding opportunities
  • > Budgeting experience
