Honoring the Voices of Black Women Playwrights

We are celebrating Black women whose stories, artistry, and vision have transformed the American theater. Through courage, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to truth, Black women playwrights have challenged conventions, amplified underrepresented voices, and created works that continue to inspire generations.

 

Their contributions embody this rich tradition of artistic excellence and cultural leadership. Their work has strengthened our communities, expanded landscape of Black theater, and ensured that the stories of Black women remain central to our collective history and future.

During this special occasion, we will acknowledge their accomplishments and present the honorees with these distinguished honor in the presence of community leaders, supporters, and fellow honorees.

Following the cocktail reception and awards ceremony, awardees and guests will enjoy a special presentation of 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf' written by Ntozake Shange, as eta celebrates the 50th anniversary of this historic work.
