eta Creative Arts Foundation in association with EcholesINK announces auditions for "A Lot to Unpack", written and directed by Rueben D. Echoles.

A Lot to Unpack is a one act comedy about Reality Television host Dr. Naomi Macintyre, who is getting married and her television network decides to pay for the wedding with one catch: she must plan the whole thing in one week and allow cameras to follow her every move. Chaos ensues when her family and friends reveal some secrets that have the potential to rip this marriage apart.
Character Descriptions
Naomi (The Bride): Black, female identifying, mid-thirties/early forties. A professional television journalist and reality star. She is trendy, social media savvy, and the leader of her friendship trio.

Nina (Maid of Honor): Black, female identifying, 39 years old (claims to be 35). A no nonsense, "tell it like it is" best friend who protects her relationships fiercely. She is a mix of Max, Regine, and Khadijah: she is the personification of "check on your strong friends".
​
Terrance (Best Man): Black, male identifying, mid-thirties/early forties. A professional creative director. He is grounded and level-headed until pushed. He encourages others to remain calm but struggles with direct confrontation.

Clinton (The Groom): Black, male identifying, early forties. A high-level executive with an antiquated mindset regarding traditional gender roles. He is madly in love with his bride and will do anything to make her happy, even to his own detriment.
​
Morgan (Any gender, any ethnicity of color): A frustrated production assistant struggling to keep everything together. They often feel more like a babysitter than a professional, maintaining their cool even as the world falls apart around them.
​
Elana (The Rival): Black, female identifying, mid-thirties/early forties. A confident artist who does not suffer fools. She is beautiful with a sharp tone and is often misunderstood; she is the epitome of "take me as I am".
​
Clint Sr. (Father of the Groom): Black, late sixties/early seventies. An "old school" man devoted to his family. He offers grace and understanding as best as he can, even if his approach is sometimes politically incorrect.
​
Marilyn (Mother of the Groom): Black, late sixties/early seventies. A "jazzy" woman who acts as her husband's interpreter, smoothing over situations he unwittingly deconstructs.
