Instructor - Acting ( Youth Division)

Shenise Brown

Shenise, affectionately known by her students as Miss Nece, began blending her passion for theatre and teaching youth at the tender age of 16 while working at a summer program. It was during this time that she wrote her first stage play, Adulthood, igniting a lifelong passion for empowering young people through the arts.

Miss Nece followed this passion in 2017 after graduating from Columbia College Chicago, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a concentration in Acting. She returned to where it all began, teaching theatre and eventually becoming the Department Chair for the Theatre Program at A+ Arts Academy. During her two years at A+, she taught and mentored young actors from kindergarten through 8th grade.

After instilling in her students the importance of chasing their dreams, Miss Nece chose to lead by example and pursue her own—moving back to Chicago to continue her professional artistic journey. She has since appeared on many Chicagoland stages, including Black Ensemble Theater, MPAACT, Invictus Theatre, and Northlight Theatre, among others.

With over 10+ years of directing and teaching children’s theatre Miss Nece is excited to be welcomed by the ETA Creative Arts family and is thrilled to be a part of the young creatives’ artistic journey in the Chicagoland area.
